(Seoul=Yonhap News) Reporter Jung Soo-yeon = The city of Seoul announced on the 27th that due to heavy snow since dawn, which is expected to cause road congestion, subway and bus services will be increased during rush hours.
Specifically, the concentrated dispatch times for subway lines 2 and 5-8 will be extended by 30 minutes, changing from 7-9 a.m. to 7-9:30 a.m. for morning rush hour, and from 6-8 p.m. to 6-8:30 p.m. for evening rush hour.
As a result, the subway will increase operations by 20 times during morning rush hours and by 15 times during evening rush hours.
City buses will also have their concentrated dispatch times extended by 30 minutes based on the departure time from the depot.
This extension of the rush hour dispatch was implemented from the morning and will continue until the morning of the 28th, as snow is expected to continue, maintaining the second stage of snow removal measures during rush hours.
Once the second stage is lifted, operations will return to normal.
The city is considering extending the last train time by 30 minutes, but this will be decided flexibly, depending on the weather conditions.
Additionally, the city has strengthened the safety management of transportation facilities.
Snow removal is being conducted at subway entrances and bus stops to prevent slipping accidents, and buses are being monitored for operation to coordinate quick snow removal with local districts.
Public facilities such as Ttareungi rental stations, traffic safety facilities, and outdoor public parking lots have been under inspection since the day before.
Public transportation information can be checked on bus information terminals at stops, the TOPIS website, and apps like Seoul Metro’s Ttareungi.
The 94 bus routes passing through frequently restricted areas such as Muakjae and Mia Pass may be rerouted due to weather and road conditions, so traffic information should be checked in advance.
