Daejeon City to Conduct Special Audit of O-World…”Will Verify Wolf Escape Route”

Starting Next Week, Audit Team to Be Deployed…Inspection of Captivity Management, etc.,

A wolf named “Neukgu,” which escaped from Daejeon O-World, has been captured.

[Daejeon=Newsis] Reporter Kwak Sang-hoon reports that Daejeon City will conduct a specific audit targeting O-World and Daejeon Urban Corporation concerning the escape of the O-World wolf.

Unlike general audits, specific audits focus on particular issues or areas, and it is expected that an audit concerning the zoo’s management practices following Neukgu’s escape will be conducted.

The Daejeon City Audit Committee announced on the 23rd that a specific audit team will be formed this week and that the audit will be conducted from next week on O-World, the zoo, and the supervising agency, Urban Corporation.

The audit team plans to comprehensively review the management practices of the enclosure, safety, zookeeper working conditions, etc.

In particular, they plan to verify evidence and the existence of any CCTV footage that can confirm the escape route of Neukgu, as there are suspicions regarding how the wolf escaped.

There is considerable interest in whether this audit will uncover the concealed escape route of Neukgu.

Meanwhile, the zoo and Urban Corporation have so far claimed that they have not secured materials to verify Neukgu’s escape route. However, controversy has arisen regarding the existence of the CCTV after it was revealed that Urban Corporation President Jung Guk-young instructed O-World to preserve the CCTV footage.
