‘Corps Mutilation’ Army Officer’s Identity to be Revealed… Court: “No Urgency” (Summary)

On the afternoon of the 11th, the Chuncheon District Court dismissed a provisional application to suspend the disclosure of personal information, paving the way for the potential exposure of the identity around the 13th.

A current Army officer in his late 30s, facing charges of murdering a female civilian employee and disposing of her dismembered body in the Bukhan River, appeared at the Chuncheon District Court for his detention hearing on November 5th.

“A public disclosure regarding the active-duty Army officer accused of murdering a female colleague and abandoning her dismembered body in the Bukhan River is slated to be released soon,” reports News1.

The Chuncheon District Court held a hearing on the afternoon of the 11th regarding A (38)’s application to suspend the ‘execution of personal information disclosure’ related to murder, dismembering, and concealing a corpse and decided to dismiss it.

The court explained its decision to dismiss by stating that there is “no concern over irreversible damage to A” and “no urgency to prevent irreversible damage.”

Consequently, A’s personal information is expected to be disclosed around the 13th.

The Gangwon Provincial Police Agency previously held a committee meeting on the 7th and decided to disclose A’s identity and photo. However, A promptly objected to the immediate disclosure, prompting the police to establish a minimum five-day grace period (from the 8th to the 12th) following related laws.

Subsequently, A filed an administrative lawsuit along with an application to cancel the disclosure of personal information.

A, who was scheduled to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, is accused of strangling B (33, female), a civilian employee of the military, following an argument in his vehicle at a military base parking lot in Gwacheon on the afternoon of the 25th of last month, and then dismembering and disposing of the body in the Bukhan River the following day.

To objectively determine A’s motive, the police are analyzing his criminal behavior with a profiler’s assistance and are decrypting and analyzing a confiscated phone from A.

On November 5th, Judge Park Seong-min of the Chuncheon District Court, responsible for preliminary warrant reviews, issued an arrest warrant for A, citing concerns over flight risk and evidence destruction.
