Companies Nesting in Wonju… A Series of Investment Agreements

On the 10th, an investment agreement ceremony with bio and semiconductor companies was held at the small conference room of the new building of the Gangwon Provincial Office. According to Gangwon Province, companies aiming for an “economic city” are relocating their headquarters or factories to Wonju, Gangwon Province.

Gangwon Province and the city of Wonju signed an investment agreement with Geron Cell Bain Co., Ltd. and Fine Flow Co., Ltd. on the 10th at the provincial office’s new building small conference room. As per this agreement, Geron Cell Bain and Fine Flow will move into the Wonju Bureon General Industrial Complex, which is scheduled to be completed next year. Gangwon Province and the city of Wonju will provide administrative support to Geron Cell Bain and Fine Flow.

Geron Cell Bain will invest 20 billion KRW to establish a factory on a 13,200 square meter site, while Fine Flow will invest 7.2 billion KRW to build its headquarters and factory on a 9,917 square meter site.

Geron Cell Bain is a company that produces prescription drugs using PDRN (a substance that promotes cell regeneration) and has recently expanded into the cosmetics sector. Fine Flow is a company that produces durable plastic and has gained recognition for its technology by introducing hybrid plastic-metal valves with embedded metal components to the domestic and international markets.

Governor Kim Jin-tae of Gangwon Province promised active support so that the two companies can settle stably and achieve their second leap.

Last year, 16 companies established investment agreements, successfully attracting 455.4 billion KRW in investments. In 2023, eight companies signed investment agreements, and in 2022, four companies did. Wonju plans to attract investments from companies in high-tech industries such as semiconductors, bio, secondary batteries, and e-mobility this year as well.

Wonju Mayor Won Kang-su stated that they would continuously attract corporate investments to secure the growth engine for the city.
