, ‘[Financial News] Lee Ok-seon, a victim of Japanese military sexual slavery, passed away due to deteriorating health on the 11th. She was 97 years old.’,

, ‘The House of Sharing in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province, announced that Grandmother Lee passed away at around 8:05 PM at a nursing hospital in Seongnam. She had been staying at this nursing hospital since March of last year due to health issues and had left the House of Sharing.’,

, ‘Born in 1928 in Busan, Grandmother Lee was taken to Yanji, China at the age of 14, where she endured hardships as a comfort woman for the Japanese military for three years. Even after liberation, she remained in China until 2000, when she returned to Korea after 58 years and regained her nationality the following year.’,

, “Starting with a lecture at Brown University in the United States in 2002, she spent nearly 20 years traveling almost yearly to places like Japan and Australia to inform the world about the horrors faced by comfort women, until she became too frail to travel. In 2016, she visited the U.S. with the production team of the film ‘Spirits’ Homecoming’ which deals with the sorrowful lives of comfort women, where she gave testimony and held screenings to raise awareness of the suffering.”,

, ‘Her memorial service is set up in Room 10 of Shillakwon in Yongin. The funeral will be on the morning of the 14th. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in the sea off Incheon. Meanwhile, with her passing, the number of surviving government-registered victims of Japanese military sexual slavery has decreased to six out of a total of 240.’,
