Chungcheongnam-do announced on the 29th that it will allocate 219.3 billion won to support the areas that recently suffered from heavy rain damage.
Governor Kim stated at a press conference on the day, “A total of 2.193 trillion won will be allocated for the restoration of public and private facilities in the special disaster areas affected by the recent flood, including 1.566 trillion won in central government funds, 240 billion won in provincial funds, and 387 billion won in municipal funds.” He also added, “In particular, apart from the government’s support of 15.2 billion won for damages to houses and agricultural facilities, an additional support of around 10 billion won will be provided.”
According to the province, from the 8th to the 10th, more than 400 mm of rain fell in Nonsan, Seocheon, Geumsan, and five other cities and counties. This led to damages amounting to 145.2 billion won, including 929 affected public facilities, 519 hectares of farmland lost, and 1,272 hectares of crops damaged.
The province plans to provide additional support beyond the government’s aid for 1,264 housing units affected by the disaster. The current government support for housing damage is 3.6 million won for collapse, 1.8 million won for partial collapse, and 300,000 won for inundation.
Additionally, support will be provided for electronic products such as TVs and refrigerators that cannot be used due to flooding, as well as temporary housing and public rental housing. Support for the recovery of agricultural facilities and crops will be provided at the actual damage level, allowing farmers to resume farming promptly. Governor Kim stated, “In addition to government support at 35% for farm facility restoration and 50% for crop recovery, the province will provide substantial support to farmers this year.”
For uninsured farms, support will be provided for crop recovery costs, and additional support will be given to ginseng-damaged farms in line with the recovery support criteria. For 957 small business owners affected by flooding, additional disaster relief of 3 million won and 2 million won from the provincial disaster relief fund will be provided.
Governor Kim emphasized, “On the 25th, I requested special government support at the Central-Local Cooperation Conference and proposed a bold budget reflection for fundamental flood damage prevention.”
