Busan Waterworks Authority Ranks First for 6 Consecutive Years in Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation

[Busan=Newsis] Reporter Won Dong-hwa = The Busan City Waterworks Authority announced on the 8th that it achieved a record-breaking performance by ranking ‘first nationwide among nine special and metropolitan cities for six consecutive times’ in the ‘Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation in the Waterworks Sector’ conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety in the first half of the year.

This evaluation was based on two categories: business management and management performance, and it assessed 18 indicators including ▲ management leadership ▲ organization and human resource management ▲ financial management ▲ social responsibility ▲ tap water quality management.

Busan scored the highest (88.43 points) among the nine metropolitan waterworks (seven special and metropolitan cities, Jeju, Sejong), being selected as the top institution for six consecutive times since 2016.

The authority scored highly in areas such as management leadership, disaster and safety management, tap water quality management, and management innovation. These high scores are attributed to the authority’s continuous innovation efforts, which include expanding water quality tests for stable water supply, expanding the introduction of a smart network management system, and advancing tap water quality management.

The authority plans to continuously promote the strengthening of social value management (ESG), advancement of the smart water management system, and establishment of a foundation for responding to climate crisis.

Kim Byeong-gi, the head of the Waterworks Authority, stated, “Despite the challenging conditions for tap water production due to the geographical uniqueness of the downstream Nakdong River, Busan has once again achieved first place in this management evaluation.” He added, “This result was possible thanks to the trust of the citizens and the efforts of all employees in the intake, purification, and distribution processes.”
