[Breaking News] Former Intelligence Chief No Sang-won Indicted and Arrested for ‘Martial Law Conspiracy’

No Sang-won, a former commander of the Military Intelligence Command, has been brought to trial while in custody on January 10th, on charges of pre-conspiring the illegal December 3rd martial law. The Special Investigation Headquarters for Martial Law (headed by Park Se-hyun, Chief of the Seoul High Prosecutor’s Office) announced that they have indicted No on charges including engaging in important duties related to insurrection and abuse of official authority. As a civilian, No Sang-won is accused of playing a “shadow” role in the process of preparing for martial law by assisting Kim Yong-hyun, a former Minister of National Defense who has already been indicted, in drafting proclamations and other related activities. It is reported that two days before the martial law declaration, he met with the then-active Intelligence Commander Moon Sang-ho and two colonels from the Intelligence Command at a fast-food restaurant (Lotteria) in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, to plot the takeover of the National Election Commission and other plans related to martial law.
