전북자치도가 산업통상자원부의 ‘수소차 폐연료전지 자원순환을 위한 시험·인증 특화센터 구축’ 공모사업에 최종 선정됐다고 23일 밝혔다.
A verification test center for hydrogen vehicle fuel cells will be established in Techno Valley 2 Industrial Complex in Wanju-gun, with a total investment of 250 billion won including 100 billion won in government funding by December 2028.
Jeonbuk Province and Wanju-gun each plan to invest 45 billion won, while the supervisory institution, Korea Chemical Convergence Test Research Institute, will invest 60 billion won.
The specialized center will establish a testing and certification system to promote the recycling of waste fuel cells for hydrogen vehicles, which is expected to lower the entry barrier for small and medium-sized enterprises and create new business models utilizing waste fuel cells.
Jeonbuk Province has already established hydrogen-related infrastructure such as a hydrogen-specialized national industrial complex, a hydrogen goods inspection support center, and an ESS safety evaluation center, along with leading companies in the hydrogen sector like Hyundai Motor, Doosan Fuel Cell, and Iljin Display, further enhancing the hydrogen industry ecosystem by attracting this specialized center.
Jeonbuk Provincial Office’s Director of Future Advanced Industries, Oh Taek-rim, stated, “Through the establishment of this specialized center, we will contribute to the activation of the circular economy for waste fuel cells in hydrogen vehicles, and strive to position Jeonbuk as a leading region in South Korea’s hydrogen economy.”
