A 60-year-old woman driver who drove an electric car into a cafe, injuring 11 people, admitted to being “inattentive while driving.”
According to the Yongin Seobu Police Station today (15th), the 60-year-old female driver stated during the police investigation conducted the previous day that she “pressed the accelerator pedal while trying to reverse,” and admitted to “driving carelessly.”
Yesterday at around 3:10 pm, the driver drove into a cafe building in Gogi-dong, Suji-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, causing the vehicle to crash into the cafe. Three cafe customers were seriously injured, while 8 others sustained minor injuries and are currently receiving hospital treatment.
It was confirmed after the accident investigation that the driver had not consumed alcohol prior to the incident.
A police official stated, “After completing the investigation of the driver, she was sent home for now,” and added, “Specific charges will be determined based on the condition of the patients.”
