A total of 106 couples celebrated their weddings at Seoul’s public wedding venues, including the Seoul Dream Forest and Seonyudo Park, this year. This marks a significant increase from last year’s 29 couples. For next year, 169 couples have already made reservations.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 16th that it will expand the number of partner wedding companies for the public wedding venue service, “Seoul My Wedding,” from five to ten starting next year, giving soon-to-be-married couples more options. The new partner companies will be selected through a public recruitment process that started on the 11th and runs until January 10th of next year.

Previously, prospective couples were required to proceed with their weddings through a single designated company per venue. From now on, they will be able to choose between two companies. At five locations, including the Seoul Women’s Plaza International Conference Hall, Choansan Sky Flower Garden, Solbat Neighborhood Park, Bulamsan Healing Town Azalea Garden, and the Oil Tank Culture Park, couples will have the option to work with either one of 10 partner companies or bring in external vendors of their choice.

Prospective couples who are residents or living in Seoul can check venue information and reviews on the Seoul My Wedding website, and they can make reservations or consultations online or by phone.

Last year, 106 couples got married through the city’s public wedding venues. Next year, 169 couples are planning their weddings, reflecting growing interest and engagement from soon-to-be-married couples.

Kim Seon-soon, the head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Women’s and Family Affairs Office, stated, “We will strengthen support to allow prospective couples to choose their preferred venue and style for their weddings, by expanding the options for operating companies from next year,” and encouraged “a lot of interest and applications from couples preparing to get married.”
