‘Seo Geoseok, Superintendent of Education of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, held a press conference at the provincial education office on the 17th and explained the background of establishing a middle school by saying, “The population in Sambongji District has increased rapidly due to housing development, but it has been difficult to establish a school, causing inconvenience for middle school students who have to travel by bus for 30 minutes.”‘

‘The Superintendent of Education introduced, “With the amendment of the Ministry of Education’s ‘Regulations on Evaluation of Financial Investments in Local Education Administration Agencies’ last year, it has become possible to establish schools with a total project cost of less than 30 billion won through the investment evaluation of the provincial education office.”‘

‘In accordance with this, it was explained that administrative procedures such as investment evaluation by the provincial education office, deliberation by the provincial council on the management plan of shared property, and budget allocation will be carried out in the second half of this year, and design contract and facility construction will be pursued starting next year.’

‘Although the nearby Samrye-dong Elementary School relocated and was established with 33 classes this year in Sambongji District, there is currently no middle school.’

‘So far, 219 middle school students have enrolled in the Sambongji District, and the provincial education office expects this number to exceed 400 by 2028.’

‘Superintendent Seo emphasized, “Our goal is to open a middle school with a total of 19 classes, including 18 regular classes and 1 special class, in March 2028. When the middle school is established, the educational environment in Sambongji District will be greatly improved.”‘
