A formal summons for cooperation, President Yoon’s summons delivery attempt fails… Summons by mail expected to arrive today.

The Joint Investigation Task Force, which is investigating the December 3 martial law incident, attempted to deliver a summons notice to President Yoon Suk-yeol at the presidential office and the Hannam-dong residence on the 16th. However, the Presidential Security Service refused to accept it, causing the process to be unsuccessful.

At 10:33 AM that day, the task force sent four investigators to the Yongsan presidential office building to deliver the summons notice, but they could not do so. The same occurred at the Hannam-dong residence.

A task force official stated, “We were refused acceptance at both the presidential office and the residence, so we could not deliver it in person,” adding that “the Security Service said it’s not within their jurisdiction.”

The Presidential Secretariat also reportedly expressed uncertainty about whether delivering a summons notice is within their duties while the president is suspended from duty.

In preparation, the task force sent the summons notice via express mail to the Chief Secretary’s Office at the Presidential Secretariat.

A task force official mentioned, “Since it was also sent by mail, there shouldn’t be any issues with delivering the summons notice.”

The summons notice mailed by the police is expected to arrive today (17th) at the Hannam-dong residence.

The task force plans to notify President Yoon to appear at the Public Official Crime Investigation Office in the Gwacheon Government Complex at 10 AM on the 18th.

The summons notice, written in the name of a Public Official Crime Investigation Office prosecutor, specifies charges against President Yoon for leading a rebellion and abuse of power.

The task force is a collaborative investigation body composed of the National Police Agency, the Public Official Crime Investigation Office, and the Ministry of National Defense Investigation Headquarters.

When asked about the possibility of forced measures like emergency arrest if the summons notice cannot be delivered, a task force official stated, “We have not yet reviewed such measures.”
