(Seoul = News1) Reporter Kim Kyung-min = U.S. President Donald Trump urged for economic pressure on China for supporting the invasion of Ukraine by Russia in Europe, according to AFP news, citing a senior White House official on the 4th (local time).
The senior official, who requested anonymity, told AFP that President Trump also stated during a video conference with the leaders of the ‘Coalition of Willing’ gathered in Paris, France, that “Europe should stop purchasing Russian oil that funds the war.”
Earlier, the Coalition of Willing held a summit meeting in Paris, France, to discuss Ukraine’s security. After the meeting, they shared the discussions with President Trump over the phone.
The U.S. has already decided to impose sanctions on India for purchasing Russian oil.
However, China, which is importing large quantities of Russian oil, has not been sanctioned so far.
Yet, AFP noted that recently President Trump has shown a tough stance toward China.
When Chinese President Xi Jinping gathered in Beijing with Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean Workers’ Party General Secretary (Chairman of the National Defense Commission) Kim Jong-un to participate in a large-scale parade commemorating the end of World War II, President Trump claimed that they are conspiring against the United States.
