Trump: “I will meet Putin soon to end the Ukraine war… Closer to resolving Gaza conflict”

“Gaza War Ceasefire Negotiations, Possibly by the End of This Week”

(Washington = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Dong-hyun = President-elect Donald Trump, who will be inaugurated on the 20th, stated that he would meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin as soon as his term begins.

In an interview with Newsmax on the 13th (local time), when asked about his strategy to end the Ukraine war, Trump did not elaborate on specific strategies but responded, “There is only one strategy, and it depends on Putin.”

Trump stated, “I don’t think Putin is too thrilled about the way the war has unfolded. From his perspective, the war has not gone well.”

He continued, “I know Putin wants to meet with me, and I will meet him very soon. I would have met earlier, but honestly, I have to be inaugurated first, don’t I?”

He reiterated his claim that the Ukraine war began due to President Joe Biden’s incompetence and declared that he would do everything possible to end the war.

Previously, Mike Walters, who has been designated as the National Security Advisor for the President-elect, said in an interview the previous day that a meeting between Trump and Putin is being prepared, and a phone call between the two leaders is expected within a few days to weeks.

President-elect Trump also mentioned during a meeting with Republican governors at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, on the 9th, that a meeting with President Putin was being coordinated.

In the interview, Trump commented on the ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas, saying, “We are very close to a settlement. They (Israel and Hamas) must reach an agreement. If they don’t, there will be huge problems.”

He added, “I understand that they have shaken hands and are concluding the negotiations. It might be concluded by the end of this week.”

Regarding the issue of ByteDance needing to sell TikTok’s U.S. operations by the 19th or face a ban in the United States, Trump said, “I am not against TikTok,” and suggested waiting for the Supreme Court’s decision.

Previously, TikTok filed an injunction with the Supreme Court to urgently halt the enforcement of the so-called ‘TikTok ban law,’ and Trump declared that he would resolve this issue once he takes office, requesting the court to extend the sale deadline.
