On the 10th local time, the Israeli military launched air strikes on the central part of the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
The Lebanese government reported that at least 22 people were killed and 117 injured due to the attack.
Israel has been increasing its attacks on various parts of Lebanon since last month.
On the 30th of last month, Israel launched a ground operation in southern Lebanon, known as a major stronghold of the pro-Iranian armed group Hezbollah.
However, it is unusual to strike the city center as it did this time.
According to AFP, quoting a Lebanese security source, the attack targeted a specific Hezbollah commander.
On that day, the Israeli military also fired shells at a UN peacekeeping base in Lebanon.
Two soldiers were injured, and surveillance equipment was reportedly partially damaged.
