[Seoul Economy] A legendary pitcher who achieved a total of 350 wins in Japanese professional baseball has been caught stealing alcohol from a supermarket. The liquor he stole was worth only 3,000 won.
According to the Yomiuri Shimbun and other sources, on the 26th, Yoneda Tetsuya was accused of stealing two cans of alcohol from a supermarket near his house at around 10:40 AM the previous day. The price of the alcohol Yoneda tried to steal was reportedly 303 yen (approximately 3,000 won in Korean currency).
When Yoneda, who had put the alcohol in his pocket, tried to leave the store without paying, a store clerk noticed and reported it to the police. Yoneda admitted to the charges.
After joining the Hankyu Braves in 1956 and playing for the Hanshin Tigers and the Kintetsu Buffaloes, Yoneda appeared in 949 games and recorded 350 wins, earning a reputation as a great pitcher. After retiring, he worked as a commentator and critic, and was inducted into the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000.
