The Japanese government has stated that the importance of Korea-Japan relations remains unchanged in the current power environment. In a regular briefing today, Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi addressed questions about the potential impact on Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation following South Korea’s declaration of martial law. He emphasized that South Korea is an important neighboring country with which Japan must cooperate on various issues as partners.
Minister Hayashi also highlighted that the strategic cooperation between Korea, the United States, and Japan is more important than ever, stating that the three countries will continue to work together.
However, regarding the situation in South Korea, he refrained from commenting on another country’s domestic affairs, noting that the Japanese government is watching the developments with significant interest and will continue to do so.
