“Deported Illegal Immigrants Welcome”… El Salvador Offers to Become ‘America’s Prison’ [Current News]

El Salvador, a Central American country, announced that it will detain illegal immigrants being deported by the U.S., regardless of their nationality. During a visit to El Salvador, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio disclosed this agreement after concluding a meeting with Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele on the 3rd of the local time.

Secretary Rubio stated that El Salvador would accept the deportation of all illegal foreign nationals staying unlawfully in the U.S. and would detain them in prisons. Additionally, he mentioned that President Bukele proposed the accommodation of American criminals with U.S. citizenship in Salvadoran prisons.

President Bukele also suggested on social media that he is considering the so-called “outsourced management” of part of the U.S. prison system and expressed willingness to accommodate American criminals in prisons for a fee.

Previously, under President Bukele, El Salvador has maintained a state of emergency since 2022, arresting 84,260 individuals, equivalent to 1.3% of the entire population, by December 31st of last year.
