This translates to an import electric car market share of 30.9%. The market share of imported electric cars in August was at its lowest monthly level since July last year, reflecting a 10.2% decrease compared to the previous month.
Among the brands, Mercedes-Benz showed the largest decrease in sales, with a 50.4% drop in August, selling 133 electric cars. BMW followed with a 43% decrease, selling 406 electric cars, and Tesla sold 2,208 electric cars, marking a 17.6% decrease.

The automobile industry attributes the recent negative impact on the electric car market to the recent underground parking lot fires in Incheon apartments.
