Regulations for the 2025 National Science Exhibition and National Student Science Invention Contest Finalized, “[Reported by Kim Areum for Edaily] The National Science Museum of the Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 9th that it has finalized and announced the regulations for the 71st National Science Exhibition and the 46th National Student Science Invention Contest for 2025. These events are held annually to encourage research activities and cultivate scientific inquiry skills among students, teachers, and the general public, contribute to building a national science and technology foundation by discovering outstanding scientific talents.”
The event guidelines include details on application dates and judging schedules, submission qualifications and procedures, work evaluation, award plans, and exhibition of award-winning works. The competition involves about 300 entries that have passed regional preliminary competitions conducted by 17 city and provincial education offices and have advanced to the finals. Entries will be evaluated through document reviews and interviews conducted by a panel of judges consisting of professors, researchers, and patent attorneys, who will then decide the recipients of awards such as the Presidential Award, Prime Minister’s Award, and Minister’s Awards (Grand Prize, Special Award, Excellence Award, and Encouragement Award). The finalist entries will be displayed to the general public in the special exhibition hall on the third floor of the Future Technology Hall at the National Science Museum.
From this year, the main competition schedules, such as application submission and interview dates, will be fixed over the next three years to enhance convenience for participants in preparing for the competition. Additionally, to promote the competition, informational sessions will be held for teachers and students who have not participated before to assist with scientific inquiry and invention preparation.
An initiative to foster a learning environment and facilitate information exchange among participants about the latest research fields will be established. The venue will open at night on the days when works are installed for each competition, offering a communication platform for participants to learn and grow. To raise interest in the competition, various events such as “Guess the Presidential Award Winner” and “Send Support Messages to Young Scientists” will be carried out during the exhibition period of the entries.
Various scientific experience events will be prepared to create a festive atmosphere during the judging process, and updates such as the progress of the judging will be broadcasted in the waiting room to enhance services for the students, teachers, and families participating in the science competition.
Director Kwon Seok-min of the National Science Museum stated, “The National Science Exhibition and National Student Science Invention Contest are meaningful events that provide a glimpse into the bright future of Korea’s science and technology and a festival filled with creative ideas and passion. We will ensure fair and transparent judging so that the passion and efforts of our students can shine, and we are preparing for various side events to ensure that all participants have an enjoyable time.”
