The Aerospace Administration held the 2025 Aerospace New Year’s Gathering on the 17th at the JW Marriott Hotel in Seocho-dong, Seoul.
Around 300 people from the aerospace industry, academia, research, and government, including Aerospace Director Yoon Young-bin, Mission Director John Lee, Korea Aerospace Industries Promotion Association President Kang Goo-young, Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences President Yoo Chang-kyung, People Power Party Representative Park Choong-kwon, and Air Force Chief of Staff Lee Young-soo, attended the event to pledge hopeful beginnings and new leaps forward for the year 2025, the Year of Eulsa.
Director Yoon thanked the aerospace industry for their contributions to establishing the aerospace agency despite challenging internal and external conditions last year. He predicted, “In 2025, the growth of the aerospace industry will accelerate, led by the private sector, while competition between countries will become fiercer with the rise of emerging countries.”
He stated, “To enhance the international competitiveness of the aerospace industry, we will establish a private sector-led aerospace economy base covering all areas, from the fourth launch of the Nuri rocket to the development of launch vehicles, future aircraft, advanced satellites, and satellite utilization.” He also announced plans to develop reusable launch vehicle technology, localize aviation gas turbine engine technology, and systematically plan projects such as the world’s first L4 point space observatory construction to secure independent terrain.
He emphasized, “We will continue to expand the foundation of aerospace across all fields, including infrastructure, workforce training, and international cooperation, through ongoing communication with industry, academia, and research organizations.”
