Kakao (035720), announced on the 19th that its location-based lifestyle platform, KakaoMap, has unveiled the “2024 Year-End Summary,” which includes statistics on the most popular restaurants of the year.
Since 2023, KakaoMap has been gathering data on users’ “My Log” statistics and “Map Influencers” throughout the year to provide this information at the end of each year. This year, a “Trend Ranking” that introduces the most popular restaurants of 2024 has been added. These statistics can be accessed in the KakaoMap app via the 2024 Restaurants, Map Influencers, and Annual Statistics buttons located under the search bar.
“My Log” is a service that provides users with records of their activities, such as reviews, bookmarks, and place suggestions, from their daily life within the app. In the My Log year-end summary, users can review a variety of activity statistics, including their travel logs, reservations, and reviews for the year.
“Map Influencers” are users who are popular and highly active in various areas like bookmarks, reviews, and suggestions. KakaoMap selected a total of 37 Map Influencers in various fields, such as the user with the most subscribers, popular bookmark groups by theme, the top review contributor, and the top place suggester. A golden crown is displayed on the profile of these Map Influencers on KakaoMap.
This year, KakaoMap particularly introduced the “Trend Ranking” year-end summary to expand the online and offline touchpoints between users and store owners. The Trend Ranking Restaurants are a data-driven ranking based on users’ exploration patterns within KakaoMap. Popular restaurants were selected from 100 locations across 17 regions nationwide, including Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, resulting in a list of 1,700 locations. These stores receive a “2024 KakaoMap Trend Ranking” certification sticker. Users can identify a Trend Ranking restaurant by the sticker displayed at the store.
Cho Sung-kyun, leader of Kakao Local Map, said, “We have introduced the Trend Ranking as part of the year-end summary since last year to strengthen the connection between users and store owners,” adding, “We will continue to enhance local businesses by providing differentiated content unique to KakaoMap in the future.”
