The image, titled “Korean-Style AI Image Generated via DALL-E,” represents an AI model known as Sovereign, an adaptation of OpenAI’s GPT-4o to fit Korean contexts. KT is working with Microsoft (MS) to jointly develop this model. The “Korean-style AI” not only processes the Korean language but also comprehensively understands the spirit, methods, and knowledge of Korea. It aims to provide safe AI services that align with Korea’s society, history, and national perspective, as well as domestic systems and regulations.
The Korean-style AI utilizes the large language model (LLM) named “Mit-eum” developed in-house, state-of-the-art models achieved through collaboration with MS, and various open-source models. KT plans to invest heavily in developing AI models that reflect Korea’s unique characteristics to offer solutions optimized for the domestic market. To support this, they are establishing the ‘AX Delivery Center,’ a key organization for joint business ventures with MS.
For extensive data collection required to build Korean-style AI, KT collaborates with Korea University’s Institute of Korean Culture. They will use resources like the Korean language dictionary from Korea University, encyclopedia data, and the Korean Cultural Research Series to develop even more sophisticated Korean-style AI.
This model, reflecting the mindset and emotions of Korean people, will be applied across various industrial sectors such as public services, finance, manufacturing, and distribution, aiding the AI transformation (AX) in these areas. The Korean-style AI, best suited to the Korean market, also contributes to AI Sovereign initiatives.
To popularize Korean-style AI, KT has launched a new brand called ‘K Intelligence,’ representing its products and services. This allows customers to enjoy AI services tailored to Korean culture in their daily lives.
