(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Lee Jeong-hyeon = The Ministry of Science and ICT is hosting the ‘2025 ICT Industry Outlook Conference’ over two days starting on the 14th at El Tower in Seocho-gu.
Celebrating its 24th edition this year, the conference is co-hosted by 12 specialized institutions in the ICT field, under the theme ‘The Digital & AI Era: A New Leap Forward for Korea’. It aims to share and discuss domestic and international issues and outlooks facing Korea.
On the first day, there will be eight lectures across four areas: future outlook, key issues & trends, 2025 ICT outlook, and special sessions.
In the future outlook area, Jang Byung-tak, director of Seoul National University’s AI Research Center, will present on “The Future of AI Industry – Humanoid AI,” explaining the necessity of ’embodied AI’ and discussing the humanoid AI robot industry that may replace human labor in the future.
Following this, Cho Young-moo, a researcher at LG Economic Research Institute, will discuss the economic status and prospects of major countries like the US, China, and Korea in response to rapidly changing international situations.
In the key issues & trends area, Yoo Seung-min, head of the Geopolitical Analysis Team at Samsung Securities, will discuss the geopolitical influences on industries such as semiconductors, automobiles, and energy following the US presidential election, as well as Korea’s strategic responses.
Additionally, Kim Jeong-wook, head of DeepX, will emphasize the diversification of AI semiconductors optimized for different products as the AI semiconductor market shifts from server-centric to on-device-centric.
Professor Choi Jae-bung from Sungkyunkwan University will discuss the changing future as we enter the era of generative AI and talk about Korea’s survival strategy for achieving AI G3 advancement.
In the 2025 ICT outlook area, Lim Jin-guk, head of the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, will present on the top 10 ICT issues for next year, including AI, AI semiconductors, AI data, quantum technology, networks, cybersecurity, media, humanoids, AI scientists, safety, and security.
Following this, Lee Jae-young, head of the Korea Information Society Development Institute, will talk about changes in the external environment and Korea’s ICT outlook, and Park Joon-bum, head of the Institute of Information & Communications Technology Planning & Evaluation, will discuss plans for training digital talent next year.
On the 15th, through 10 topics and 20 programs, the conference will conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of major digital technologies on industries and daily life.
In particular, topics such as generative AI, robotics, next-generation communication, AI semiconductors, digital trade, AI security, wireless power transmission, quantum technology, and digital wireless infrastructure will be covered.
