Yoo Sang-im, the Minister of Science and ICT, conducted an on-site inspection and encouraged the relevant personnel. On the 14th, a rally is scheduled at the Yeouido National Assembly, and the three major telecom companies (SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus) plan to significantly increase traffic capacity. Due to unexpected large crowds at the rally on the 7th, there were communication delays, and the intention this time is to prevent such inconveniences.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 12th that the three telecom companies would deploy 29 mobile base stations, 39 temporary base stations, and 133 existing communication base station equipment in front of the National Assembly in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, from the 14th to the 15th. This is about a threefold increase in mobile base stations, tenfold in temporary base stations, and 1.5 times more existing communication base station equipment compared to the setup on the 7th, which had 10 mobile base stations, 4 temporary base stations, and 57 base station equipment.
The number of personnel operating the situation room and on-site response team will also increase by 36 people, bringing the total to 124. Additionally, 6 mobile base stations and 19 existing communication base station equipment will be deployed near Gwanghwamun and City Hall, and Yongsan will have 1 mobile base station.
Minister Yoo visited the KT Network Control Center in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, to check the response measures. He emphasized the necessity of preparing thoroughly to ensure that people do not experience inconvenience due to communication disruptions.
