[Digital Daily Reporter Ok Song-yi] Samsung Electronics (CEO Han Jong-hee) announced on the 18th that the One UI 7 update will begin gradually from the 7th of next month.
This version of One UI will support major models including the ‘Galaxy S24 series’ and ‘Galaxy Z Fold6/Z Flip6’ as well as previously released devices.
The supported models include the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Fold/Flip6, Galaxy Tab S10 series, Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold/Flip5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series. More models will be updated in the future, and the support schedule may vary by model and country.
Through this update, Galaxy users will be able to experience a newly refreshed UX design and more advanced ‘Galaxy AI’ features.
One UI 7 has a simplified design. Personalization options have been expanded for the home screen, One UI widgets, apps, and the lock screen, allowing users to precisely control every element.
In particular, the ‘Now Bar’ allows users to check their real-time activities directly from the lock screen. This means users can view their current activities during jogging without unlocking their smartphone and can change the music they are listening to from the lock screen.
Additionally, more advanced ‘Galaxy AI’ features are provided. ‘AI Select’ understands the context within the screen to offer suitable recommendations for ▲ translation ▲ generated editing ▲ GIF creation. For example, if you’re watching a video on your smartphone and click the ‘AI Select’ icon and choose ‘GIF creation’, you can effortlessly save the video you’re watching as a GIF file.
‘Writing Assist’ consolidates text-related functions that operate based on AI, such as text summarization and translation, spelling and grammar checks, and writing style adjustments. Users can receive writing assistance easily and intuitively without switching apps.
Moreover, convenient creative tools leveraging AI are provided. ‘Audio Eraser’ allows AI to categorize various sounds in recorded videos, enabling users to remove or adjust volumes of ▲ voices ▲ noise ▲ wind sound with just a click.
The ‘Drawing Assist’ function allows high-quality images to be generated from simple sketches.
Meanwhile, One UI 7 enables tasks to be carried out naturally as if conversing with a friend. For instance, by pressing and holding the side button of the smartphone and stating, “Find an Italian restaurant nearby that allows pets,” a restaurant can be easily located on the map with just one input.
Settings have also become simpler. By entering the settings app, pressing the magnifying glass button at the top, and typing or speaking, “My eyes are tired,” relevant recommendations like ‘brightness optimization’ in the display settings are immediately provided.
