‘(Seongnam=Yonhap News) Kim Ju-hwan – “Korea is an important market for Roblox because it has a large gaming market and an excellent IT infrastructure,” said Richard Chae, Head of Roblox Korea, at a press conference held to commemorate the first pop-up event at Hyundai Department Store in Pangyo, Seongnam, on the 1st.’
‘Chae has previously worked at renowned IT and gaming companies such as Samsung Electronics, NHN Entertainment, and Electronic Arts (EA), and served as the head of the publishing business division at Kabam, successfully launching multiple mobile games.’
‘Since officially entering the Korean market in 2021, Roblox held its first offline pop-up event today.’
‘Chae described the event as “a festival for game enthusiasts and content creators” and explained that it will run for over two weeks until the 17th to allow as many people as possible to enjoy it.’
‘Chae emphasized Roblox’s recent achievements and its efforts in social contribution within the Korean market.’
‘He noted that the total daily active users (MAU) increased by 31% year-over-year, reaching 111.8 million, with the Asia-Pacific region achieving a 76% increase, showing significant performance. He added that while Roblox is often perceived as a children’s game, over 62% of users are aged 13 or older.’

‘He also mentioned that in collaboration with GS25 in 2022, a “digital citizenship” campaign was launched in Korea, recording over 25 million visits. Recently, they published a digital citizenship guidebook for parents, students, and teachers in cooperation with the National Media Literacy Teachers Association.’
‘Last year, the Game Rating and Administration Committee blocked about 30 games available on Roblox for being deemed inappropriate for distribution in the domestic market.’
‘Regarding this, Chae stated, “We maintain a good relationship with the Game Rating Administration Committee and are striving to comply with regulations,” providing a fundamental response.’
‘He emphasized, “Korea is a unique market and a trendsetter,” and expressed his intention to continue facilitating a virtuous cycle where more creators release content on Roblox, earn rewards, and produce better content.’
