OpenAI, NVIDIA, and Furiosa to Attend ‘AI Global Conference’

On the 25th, a global event was held in Korea where AI industry experts from big tech companies like OpenAI and NVIDIA to domestic companies like Naver and LG gathered to share technological trends and strengthen cooperation. Startups, including FuriosaAI, which recently declined an acquisition offer from Meta, showcased their technological prowess.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it hosted the ‘AI Global Conference’ at the Lotte Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 25th. The ministry discussed synergy strategies for AI infrastructure and models with global corporate representatives. Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of OpenAI, delivered a keynote speech on AI infrastructure via video conferencing. In the opening session, Jung So-young, CEO of NVIDIA Korea, summarized key points from NVIDIA’s annual developer conference ‘GTC 2025,’ and Keith Strier, Senior Vice President at AMD, presented on sovereign AI.

The panel discussion, chaired by Professor Oh Hye-yeon from the School of Computing at KAIST, included participants such as Lee Moon-tae, Executive Director of LG AI Research Institute, Lee Dong-soo, Director of Naver Cloud, Kwon Soon-il, Vice President of Upstage, and Kim Yoon, CSO of Twelve Labs, as well as executives from international companies Lambda and TensorWave. CEOs or executives from 16 companies, including Baek Joon-ho of FuriosaAI, Kim Kwang-jung from Rebellion, and Dmitri Shchubelko from Perplexity, also presented on topics like AI semiconductors, data centers, AI models and services.

Minister of Science and ICT, Yoo Sang-im, stated, “We will make every effort to ensure Korea becomes one of the top three nations in AI, by quickly expanding AI computing infrastructure and providing concentrated support for developing AI models of global top standards,” reflecting on the discussions from the conference.
