Naver Webtoon has announced a collaboration with LG Twins to release collaboration products using the webtoon ‘Maru is Kangji’ on the 2nd. This is the first time that a webtoon intellectual property (IP) collaborates officially with a professional baseball team. Starting on the 27th, items such as cheering uniforms, hats, commemorative coins, cheering bats, and headbands featuring Maru character will be available for sale.
From the 27th to the 29th, a ‘Invincible Maru Day’ event will be held at Seoul Jamsil Baseball Stadium, where a Maru character sculpture photo zone and an unmanned photo booth ‘Photoism’ will be installed.
‘Maru is Kangji’ is a webtoon that tells the story of a growing puppy turning into a child. Due to its cute characters, it has gained popularity and set a record for the highest sales among all IP popup stores when it opened popup stores at Starfield COEX Mall, The Hyundai Seoul, and Shinsegae Department Store Centum City Branch last year.
An LG Twins official stated, ” ‘Maru is Kangji’ is a character beloved by many young people in their 20s, and through this collaboration, we hope both LG Twins fans and ‘Maru is Kangji’ fans will have a pleasant experience at the baseball stadium.”
