SOOP announced on the 22nd that they have officially launched a global live streaming platform as part of their strategy to enter the global market. Since the beta version was released in June 2024, SOOP has been implementing various updates aimed at establishing a stable streaming environment and enhancing user interaction.
Through the officially launched global platform, SOOP plans to expand its market into Southeast Asia and English-speaking regions, building on the successful results from its operations in Thailand. Thailand is a region where popular esports content such as Valorant is active, and SOOP intends to strengthen the streaming ecosystem and user-streamer interactions by collaborating with local streamers.
With this official launch, SOOP has also introduced new services to enhance platform competitiveness. By launching a dedicated esports page for Valorant, which is highly popular in Southeast Asia and abroad, accessibility is increased by making it easier to check league schedules and match information and access broadcasts in various languages. Additionally, features such as drops, challenge mission systems, broadcast clip creation and sharing, free emoticons, streamer widgets, and subscription gift coupons have been added to facilitate better communication and participation between streamers and users.
Furthermore, the global platform supports third-party tool integration to allow streamers to manage chat, notifications, fan management, and statistics simultaneously when streaming on multiple platforms. This provides an environment for efficiently managing communication with users.
SOOP’s global expansion strategy focuses on expanding collaboration with game companies and local partner streamers. This collaboration aims to provide tailored content reflecting the characteristics and needs of local markets, and create a stable and attractive environment for streamers.
For instance, based on their experience in operating and producing broadcasts for esports tournaments like the Valorant Challengers Thailand series earlier this year, SOOP has been offering a differentiated streaming environment to esports fans in Southeast Asia. Such collaboration helps discover content preferred by local fans and provides a stable activity base for streamers, thus increasing platform awareness and expanding user participation.
For the 2025 season, SOOP plans to enhance its close collaboration with Riot Games as the exclusive streaming partner for the Valorant Challengers Southeast Asia (VCT SEA) season, supporting official broadcasts of the entire tournament process as well as co-streaming with various streamers. Through this, SOOP aims to provide high-quality streaming services to esports fans while strengthening its position in the global esports market.
Choi Young-woo, head of SOOP’s Global Business Division, stated, “SOOP aims to provide a platform where overseas local users and streamers can collaborate and share better experiences,” and added, “We will continue to enhance our competitiveness in the global market through technology development and content enhancement.”
In March, SOOP changed their company name and introduced a new brand in October, establishing an integrated brand suitable for the global market. Through this, they plan to establish themselves as a platform setting the standard in the global streaming industry.
