LG CNS partners with EON to advance into the Japanese Edutech market.

LG CNS embarked on a full-scale strategy to target the Japanese education technology market. LG CNS announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with AEON, a well-known Japanese educational company that operates over 300 directly managed language schools in Japan.

Based on this agreement, LG CNS plans to implement digital transformation (DX) technologies in all of AEON’s educational businesses, including building an English conversation AI tutor app for public education in Japan, renewing the ‘AI Spic Tutor 2’ app, enhancing the operation platform for online learning at AEON, and integrating and analyzing offline and online learning data.

Initially, the two companies will launch a new app called ‘AI Speak Tutor for School’ and enter the English public education market in Japan. LG CNS will develop an integrated English learning app tailored for elementary and middle school students by specializing the ‘AI Speak Tutor 2’ already offered to adult users in Japan. This new app will provide reading, listening, and testing in addition to conversation practice, combining over 50 years of AEON’s English education curriculum and expertise to offer AI-based English conversation services using English textbooks.

LG CNS and AEON have been cooperating in the Japanese education technology business since 2021. By customizing the AI tutor app ‘Buttertime’ as ‘AI Speak Tutor 2,’ users can practice over 500 situation-specific and occupation-specific conversations with AI, engage in role-playing with ChatGPT, and practice English expressions, pronunciation, and more anytime and anywhere. The AI integrated into ‘AI Speak Tutor 2′ analyzes users’ conversation skills by measuring English pronunciation, speech speed, answer similarity, and levels.

LG CNS will also enhance AEON’s LMS platform, which includes functions such as instructor selection, class reservation, AI level testing, curriculum management, student management, etc. The platform will support students’ independent online learning and instructors’ convenient integrated management of students on one platform. Plans include the integration of AI and big data-based student-instructor-learning integrated data management functions. By analyzing counseling records, course data, test records collected from online and offline channels, personalized learning paths for students will be provided.

LG CNS is actively expanding its education technology business domestically as well, conducting projects such as building an AI digital textbook platform with education publishing specialist companies. They have also provided public English conversation services for several years to 12 provincial education offices, including Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, and Busan. Park Sang-kyun, Executive Vice President of LG CNS’ communications, distribution, and service business, expressed plans to accelerate efforts in the Japanese education technology market following this agreement. He stated that they will strategically expand the market not only in B2C but also in B2B and B2G sectors together with AEON.
