Krafton Partners with Nvidia: Unveils AI Virtual Character ‘CPC’ [CES2025]

KRAFTON, working alongside NVIDIA, has unveiled its new “CPC (Co Playable Character)” technology that allows in-game characters to interact with players as if they were real people. This announcement took place at CES 2025, the world’s largest IT and electronics exhibition held in Las Vegas. The CPC technology is built on NVIDIA’s ACE framework, a gaming-specific on-device small language model that enables characters to engage in conversations, cooperate with players, and react to situations much like humans do, setting it apart from traditional non-player characters (NPCs).

KRAFTON plans to apply this technology across its game franchises, including PUBG and the life simulation game, inZOI, to enhance user experiences. According to Keita Iida, NVIDIA’s Vice President of Developer Relations, AI is transforming how games are developed and played, and the introduction of CPC in KRAFTON’s live games aims to provide unique, innovative experiences.

KRAFTON’s CEO, Kim Chang-han, emphasized the significance of showcasing this collaborative AI technology with NVIDIA at CES 2025, stating that it points to a new direction for the gaming industry. He expressed KRAFTON’s commitment to further working with NVIDIA to develop AI-driven differentiated technologies like CPC, aiming to expand user experiences and pioneer the future of the global gaming industry.
