Kakao has added a voice function to its AI National Assistant pilot service, according to the announcement made on the 14th. The service, which was launched in March as a pilot in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, allows users to access various public services through the ‘National Assistant Gubi’ KakaoTalk channel without the need to install a separate app. This has gained popularity because users can receive electronic certificates or reserve public facilities through conversational requests in the Gubi channel. The AI safety model, ‘Kanana Safeguard’, ensures that the services are safe and reliable for public use.

With the latest update, users can now interact with the service via voice, not just through text input. The process of booking public facilities has also become more straightforward. Previously, users had to switch to a separate service to complete reservations. Now, they can complete everything from browsing to booking directly within the KakaoTalk chat window. Additionally, accessibility has been improved by allowing instant service activation through the AI National Assistant icon in the ‘More’ tab on KakaoTalk.

Kakao plans to continuously expand its integration with everyday public services and develop into an intelligent AI public service that proactively suggests services tailored to users’ situations in the future.
