Kakao Entertainment announced on November 1 that it will jointly produce a short-form drama based on the intellectual property (IP) of the webtoon·web novel “Cross-dressing Secretary” with Japanese broadcaster Fuji TV and Playlist, a comprehensive content company that’s a subsidiary of Naver.

“Cross-dressing Secretary,” serialized as a web novel and webtoon on Kakao Page and Kakao Webtoon, is a workplace romance story about ‘Sewon,’ who disguises herself as a man to take her injured twin brother’s place as a new secretary at a conglomerate. Hwang Jae-heon, Chief Manager of Kakao Entertainment’s IP Business Team, stated, “Short-form dramas are one of the formats closest to the essential traits of webtoons, so it’s a strategic choice that can create a great synergy.” He added, “Kakao Entertainment will continue to expand its IP business in various forms globally by utilizing its boundless IP resources.”
