In the third quarter of this year, the iPhone 15 emerged as the best-selling smartphone, according to research by Counterpoint Research on the 11th (local time). Apple’s iPhone 15 basic model was recognized as the most-sold smartphone model during this period.
Following closely, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro held the second and third places, respectively, making all top three models part of the iPhone 15 series. The previous model, iPhone 14, ranked eighth.
From the fourth to seventh positions, Samsung’s Galaxy A series dominated the list. The Galaxy A14 in both 4G and 5G variants secured the fourth and fifth spots, while the Galaxy A35 5G took sixth and the Galaxy A05 series seventh.
Xiaomi’s Redmi 13C 4G claimed the ninth place, making it into the top 10 rankings.
Samsung’s flagship model, the Galaxy S24, succeeded in entering the top 10 for the third consecutive quarter. It marked the first entry of the Galaxy S series into the top 10 in the third quarter since 2018, thanks to effective marketing efforts focused on the Galaxy AI (Artificial Intelligence) features.
While Apple’s top 10 market share slightly decreased, Samsung’s proportion increased. Samsung had five models in the top 10, one more than Apple’s lineup.
Despite Samsung’s higher sales of budget models, Apple’s stronger performance in the Pro models means that their Average Selling Price (ASP) is higher. Counterpoint Research noted, “Consumers in emerging markets are contributing to Apple’s high-end phone sales by choosing the latest iPhones. Both Apple and Samsung are strengthening their premium positioning with Apple Intelligence and Galaxy AI, and they are expected to maintain their top positions.”
