The navigation UI design concept developed by Hyundai Autonetworks (Hyundai Autoever) received the main award in the Design Concept category at the prestigious ‘2024 Red Dot Award’. Hyundai Autoever completed the prototype for the navigation UI, named NIMS (New Interconnected Map Service), incorporating over 20 years of navigation development experience and feedback from various users. It was developed based on three keywords: Universe, Explore, and Connect.
The Red Dot Award is divided into three main categories: Product Design, Brand & Communication Design, and Design Concept. The Design Concept category evaluates the design of ideas or prototypes in the initial development stages.
The display in autonomous vehicles shows passengers real-time information such as remaining time and distance to the destination, surrounding conditions, allowing passengers to travel comfortably without the burden of driving. Passengers can enjoy various content, such as nearby restaurants, attractions, and social media integrated content, and check weather, music playback, stock information through the navigation system.
Hyundai Autoever continuously researches and improves the driving experience by implementing more intuitive and user-friendly interfaces like augmented reality (AR) navigation and 3D maps. They prioritize driver safety and convenience in their interface design, maximizing accessibility to information while minimizing distraction.
