[Seoul Economy] – Generative AI company Directus Tech is set to acquire SKAIWORKS. SKAIWORKS is the only company in the world with the unique technology to quickly create a variety of advertisement videos by combining AI natural language prompts with 3D modeling of products, without actual filming. Directus Tech anticipates leveraging this acquisition to make a proactive entry into the global advertising market.
Directus Tech recently announced the signing of a stock purchase agreement (SPA) to acquire SKAIWORKS, with the total acquisition comprising 100% of SKAIWORKS’ shares. The acquisition, including the payment of the remaining balance, will be finalized on the 2nd of the following month. By utilizing SKAIWORKS’ technology, it is expected that the time and cost of video advertising production will be significantly reduced while maintaining top-tier video quality and allowing for high-quality editing. SKAIWORKS has already been recognized for its technology, having won the top prize for its “3D-based generative AI video production source technology” at VIVATECH, Europe’s largest tech exhibition held in Paris last June.
The “Gen AI Video Production Technology” from SKAIWORKS is a commercially validated technology that extends beyond AI innovations. It’s used by top-tier global brands like LVMH’s Bulgari, Givenchy, and Hublot for creating video advertisements. Over 500 global brands, including Swatch Group and Chopard in the luxury sector, are also adopting this technology. In South Korea, companies across various sectors like electronics, cosmetics, F&B, finance, and sports — such as LG Electronics, LG Household & Health Care, Hyundai Card, Jeong Kwan Jang, Lotte Chilsung Beverage, and NH Investment & Securities — are utilizing this technology for their video advertising efforts.
Directus Tech plans to focus on expanding into European, American, Middle Eastern, and Southeast Asian markets following the SKAIWORKS acquisition, aiming to lead the generative AI video advertising market. Directus Tech’s CEO, Lee Jae-cheol, stated, “We have established sales hubs in Singapore, Paris, and Shanghai for global business expansion,” adding that once the SKAIWORKS acquisition is completed, a new integrated corporation, ‘SKAI worldwide,’ blending generative AI technology with creative content, will be formed.
