Yoo Seung-min: “President Yoon, who has abandoned his dignity, is inciting protesters to block the arrest.”

[Financial News] Former People Power Party member Yoo Seung-min criticized President Yoon Suk-yeol for sending a letter to his supporters.

Yoo Seung-min: “Despite being president, he should voluntarily appear and undergo investigation.”

On January 2nd, during YTN Radio’s ‘News Fighting,’ former member Yoo mentioned President Yoon’s letter to his supporters, questioning if the President was neglecting his minimum dignified conduct and responsibility to prevent clashes between protesters. He criticized it as inciting the “Taegeukgi rallies” to prevent the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Yoo further stated, “Isn’t he still the president? Before considering the legal aspects, he should voluntarily submit to an investigation.” He emphasized that the President should tell the extremely divided citizenry, “If I am guilty, I will undergo investigation and receive punishment.”

He continued, “Hiding in the residence and refusing to cooperate with the investigation while inciting like that is provoking calamities. No politician, not even the president, should incite protestors in such a manner,” he reiterated.

Regarding the appointment of acting Chief Justice Choi’s Constitutional Court judges as “an unavoidable measure.”

Yoo also commented on Choi Sang-mok, acting president and deputy prime minister/minister of economy and finance, appointing two of the three Constitutional Court judges. He called it “an unavoidable measure,” warning that if left unchecked, political instability could spiral out of control, leading to economic and security crises, and a decline in international and national credibility.

Additionally, Yoo criticized the People Power Party leadership for opposing both the impeachment and the appointment of Constitutional Court judges, stating that such a stance was “very wrong.” He urged that opposing the judge appointments was misguided and expressed hope that no one in the government or Presidential Office would think of undermining acting President Choi on this basis.
