“The People Power Party has decided to include provisions for financial support in the Semiconductor Special Act that they are promoting as a party policy.
Kim Sang-hoon, the chairman of the policy committee, held a press briefing at the National Assembly, stating that the special law, which includes grounds for national support for the semiconductor industry, will allow for financial backing such as subsidies.
He further added that the law will specify the foundation for a special account dedicated to strengthening semiconductor competitiveness and stabilizing the supply chain, the establishment of a presidential committee for enhancing semiconductor industry competitiveness, and the creation of a semiconductor innovation support group under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy.
Additionally, there are plans to ease the 52-hour workweek regulation for researchers and developers (R&D employees).
