The Democratic Party stated that they are open to discussions if a special investigation bill exclusively targeting Kim Kun-hee is proposed separately from Han Dong-hoon.

Han Min-soo, a spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that if Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the People Power Party, proposes a separate special prosecution law for Kim Keon-hee, it could be discussed. In a meeting with reporters after the party’s Supreme Council meeting on the 23rd, Han mentioned that there were over 20 pro-Han lawmakers at a dinner the previous day. He added that if Representative Han believes a special law for Kim Keon-hee is necessary, he should propose it, as the legislative requirements are sufficiently met, and the Democratic Party is willing to discuss the proposal.

Han Min-soo also referenced discussions following Han Dong-hoon’s meeting with President Yoon Seok-youl, in which it was reported that simply implementing the measures suggested by the President’s office would not suffice and that the public’s opinion overwhelmingly supports the Kim Keon-hee special prosecutor law. He urged for a political decision to adopt the special investigation.

Furthermore, Han criticized President Yoon’s recent comments, stating that they suggest a refusal to address public demands for clarity regarding the allegations against Kim Keon-hee. Regarding a potential second meeting between the leaders of the two main parties, he mentioned that Lee Jae-myung had directed Chief Secretary Lee Hae-sik to engage in discussions about the agenda, timing, and format of the meeting with Han.
