On the night of the 28th to the early hours of the 29th, North Korea floated about 40 balloons containing trash and debris aimed at the South.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff reported that approximately 30 debris items were found in the Gyeonggi and capital areas.
The Joint Chiefs explained, “The identified contents include anti-South Korean leaflets, and the analysis results showed that there were no materials harmful to safety.”
They added that as of this morning, no North Korean balloons could be spotted in the skies.
This marks the first time in ten days that North Korea has released balloons filled with debris since November 18. Since May, North Korea has launched balloons 32 times to scatter trash, debris, and leaflets.
