North Korea completes the third phase of the “New Town” Hwaseong district for Kim Il-sung’s birthday… Kim Jong-un attends

▲ On April 15th, North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un attended the completion ceremony of Phase 3 in the Hwasong district, one of the ‘new town’ areas in Pyongyang, marking the birthday of late President Kim Il-sung by focusing on improving the people’s living conditions.

Kim Jong-un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, attended the completion ceremony of Phase 3 in the Hwasong district in Pyongyang city, one of the ‘new town’ developments, on the 15th, which is also the birthday of President Kim Il-sung.

The Korean Central News Agency reported that the completion ceremony for 10,000 housing units in the Hwasong district Phase 3 was grandly conducted yesterday.

Kim Jong-un personally cut the ribbon at the completion ceremony, then met and encouraged the workers and the elderly who will live in the new houses, as well as the military and civilian labor innovators who participated in the construction of Pyongyang’s houses.

Kim Jong-un’s daughter, Kim Ju-ae, also attended the completion ceremony yesterday.

At the 8th Workers’ Party Congress in 2021, North Korea announced a plan to build a total of 50,000 housing units over five years, with 10,000 units constructed annually in Pyongyang, and has been pushing forward with the housing construction.

According to this plan, 10,000 housing units were constructed in Songhwa Street in 2022, Phase 1 of the Hwasong district in 2023, Phase 2 of the Hwasong district in 2024, and now 10,000 housing units have been built in Phase 3 of the Hwasong district.

Kim Jong-un’s visit to the Phase 3 construction site in the Hwasong district marks his fourth visit, following the ground-breaking ceremony last year and inspections of the construction site in March and April.
