Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, is scheduled to meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong on the 20th to discuss youth employment support. The meeting will take place at the ‘Samsung Youth Software Academy’ (SSAFY) in Gangnam-gu, where they will hold a field discussion to explore strategies for supporting young people entering society amid the economic crisis, according to Democratic Party spokesperson Hwang Jeong-ah on the 19th.
This meeting marks approximately four years since Lee Jae-myung last met with Lee Jae-yong during a private meal while serving as the governor of Gyeonggi Province in 2021. Before the discussion, they will have a separate private meeting.
In particular, the meeting is expected to cover topics such as youth employment support, the Commercial Act amendment recently passed at the plenary session led by the opposition, and ongoing controversies surrounding the Semiconductor Special Law, which includes exceptions to the 52-hour workweek rule.
The Democratic Party will be represented by Lee Jae-myung, Jin Seong-jun, the head of policy, Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson, Lee Hae-sik, the secretary-general to the party leader, and Kim Tae-seon, the secretary to the party leader. From Samsung Electronics, Chairman Lee Jae-yong and other executives will be present.
