Lee Jae-myung Pressures Han Dong-hoon for Talks: “Regardless of the Outcome, We Need to Meet and Discuss”

Stalled Second Summit Talks Highlighted
“All talk and no action is typical Yeouido slang”

Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, urged People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon on the 30th to promptly organize a summit meeting. Although the two party leaders agreed to push for a second meeting, reports indicate that discussions on the agenda and schedule are currently stalled.

During the party’s supreme council meeting, Lee commented on the sluggish negotiations, stating, “The Chief Secretary was supposed to discuss this, but there hasn’t been any progress. I understand that it’s a difficult position, but regardless, the leaders of both parties must meet and deliberate. Whatever the outcome, we have numerous pressing issues requiring discussion.”

Lee mentioned specific topics for the meeting, saying, “The Distribution Network Improvement Act should be abolished. The depositor protection limit, which is currently 50 million won, should be raised to 100 million won. Moreover, the local council system, which Han promised to revitalize several times to ensure equal political opportunities, needs to be revived.” He added, “I’ve heard that Han dislikes Yeouido slang, but not following through on promises is quintessential Yeouido slang. I hope we can meet promptly and address at least a few urgent issues that align with public expectations.”
