Kwon Young-se said, “Suddenly, we’ve become a ‘Censorship Republic’… trying thoroughly to block criticism of Lee Jae-myung.”

Kwon Young-se, the emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, criticized on the 23rd, “The President’s martial law ended in six hours, but the censorship martial law of the Democratic Party, which has just begun, shows no signs of ending.”

Chairman Kwon made these remarks during a meeting of the emergency committee held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the morning of the 23rd, saying, “In 2025, South Korea has suddenly turned into a republic of censorship.”

He remarked, “The Democratic Party said they would conduct North Korea-style ‘5-Household Task Force’ KakaoTalk censorship targeting all citizens, and when a series of public opinion polls showed a sharp drop in support for the Democratic Party and its leader Lee Jae-myung, they responded by creating a special committee to verify the surveys, essentially censoring them.”

He further pointed out that “the Democratic Party has filed complaints against YouTubers criticizing the party and its leader, and it is said that the police have even been investigating the YouTube viewing records of protest participants.”

Regarding the Democratic Party’s report to Google concerning the YouTube video of Korean history lecturer Jeon Han-gil, who raised allegations of ‘election fraud,’ Kwon emphasized, “Mr. Jeon merely pointed out issues with the National Election Commission and the election system. Why is the Democratic Party so upset about it? Many citizens are curious whether the Election Commission and the Democratic Party are one and the same.”

He continued, “The Democratic Party’s sole aim is clear: to thoroughly block any criticism of the leader, akin to the highest dignity in Korea,” adding, “They are introducing public censorship edicts 1, 2, 3, and 4 one after the other, effectively imposing martial law governance.”

Furthermore, Kwon urged, “If the Democratic Party thinks they can block the eyes and ears of the public with censorship, it is a grave mistake. Immediately cease this dangerously anti-democratic censorship.”
