Kim Byung-gi: Reports on ‘Daddy Chance’ Allegations Are a Typical Example of Fake News

The floor leader of the Democratic Party, Kim Byung-ki, has refuted reports regarding allegations of misconduct related to his son’s university transfer, calling them a typical example of fake news.

Kim stated today (5th) on social media that he came across an absurd article and initially suspected it had the scent of political scheming. However, he then realized that as the ruling party’s floor leader responsible for reform legislation, the situation only made him smile wryly.

He explained that his son received all A’s except for two subjects at Kentucky State University and also graduated top of his class after transferring to Soongsil University.

Regarding the reports that he questioned a policy in the National Assembly audit concerning a small business where his son worked to support tuition, he clarified that it was about criticizing the Yoon Suk-yeol government’s excessive public institution workforce reduction, which other lawmakers also pointed out.

In particular, he emphasized that although his son was recently hired through open recruitment at a virtual asset company, he resigned because he couldn’t endure the discomfort caused by a media outlet sending official documents to the company under the pretext of investigation.

Previously, a media outlet reported that Kim met with Soongsil University’s president and admissions director when his second son couldn’t graduate from the University of Kentucky, and allegedly mobilized aides and district council members to inquire about transfer methods.

It also raised suspicions that his second son received help from a small business when transferring to a contracted department and coincidentally raised inquiries related to that company during the National Assembly audit.
