‘Impeachment hearing of Justice Minister Yoon’ Party conflict…”Illegal” vs “Outside pressure for investigation”

During the impeachment inquiry hearing for President Yoon Seok-yeol held at the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee, there was a clash between the ruling and opposition parties over suspicions of exerting external pressure in the investigation of the death of private first class Yoon.

Opposition lawmakers questioned whether President Yoon Seok-yeol was the one who made phone calls to former Defense Minister Lee Jong-seob and others through the Presidential Security Service before the case was referred for investigation, but the individuals refused to answer.

In response, ruling party lawmakers criticized the opposition for forcefully conducting an illegal parliamentary inquiry to push for President Yoon’s impeachment, claiming that the suspicions of exerting pressure in the investigation are baseless fabrications.

Prior to the inquiry, ruling party members staged a picket line in front of the meeting room, and a physical altercation broke out with opposition lawmakers trying to enter, resulting in some lawmakers being injured.
