Kwon Young-se, former Emergency Committee Chairperson of the People Power Party, was seen adjusting his glasses during a general meeting of lawmakers held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 8th.
Kwon criticized former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo, who expressed his intention to sever ties with the party, saying, “One’s innate character cannot be helped.”
On his Facebook, Kwon shared an article about Hong, stating, “Someone who has twice run for presidency, been elected twice as a metropolitan mayor, and served multiple terms as a lawmaker shouldn’t behave like this now.”
Kwon resigned from his position as Emergency Committee Chairperson on the 10th, taking responsibility for the attempted forced change of the party’s presidential candidate.
Previously, Hong communicated on his platform “Youth’s Dream” that he couldn’t help but sever ties with the party that had been impeached twice. He noted, “I rebuilt the party once, but couldn’t handle the second time, so I left.” He added, “I even retired from politics to avoid criticism for leaving. Despite desperate pleas from the disgraceful group to return, I am so put off that I don’t even want to go near it.”
