Han Dong-hoon: “President Yoon should apologize, First Lady Kim should halt her activities, and there should be a personnel reshuffle among the aides” [News1 PICK]

Hwang Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, called for nationwide apologies along with a significant overhaul of the presidential office staff and a cabinet reshuffle aimed at reform. This appeal was directed towards President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 4th during a top-level meeting at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul.

Additionally, Hwang demanded that Kim Geon-hee immediately cease external activities and called for the appointment of a special inspector. He stated, “The President should openly and sincerely address the concerns of the public, apologize, and take the necessary actions,” emphasizing that the current administration must take firm and drastic steps for renewal and improvement.

Hwang further stressed the importance of assigning a special inspector to prevent future occurrences of similar incidents tied to Kim Geon-hee. This statement comes just four days after a phone call recording between President Yoon and Myeong Tae-gyun was made public.

Moreover, Hwang expressed a sense of accountability, acknowledging the worries surrounding alleged political meddling and promising prompt and rigorous investigations from the party’s side. He criticized a recent outdoor rally by the Democratic Party, accusing them of encouraging a governmental shutdown in response to potential legal consequences facing their leader, Lee Jae-myung. Hwang underscored the need for transformation and renewal to counter what he described as transparent schemes and instigations by the opposition.
